Party Lights

Party lights are lights that are used to light up a party. There will not be too many people out there who have not gone to parties and what kind of a party is it if the lighting is blah. If not it is only a get together. The moment you say party what comes to mind is a number of people of usually the same average age, gyrating to music either from a live band, or from a music system and all this done under flashing multi-colored lights.

This is the usual concept of a party and is probably the safest if you are hosting one. A party needs two things, one of course is the drinks and the other the setting. This “setting” is nothing other than the kind of lights that you install. You cannot have a disco party under hanging paper lanterns if you get what I mean. There are a number of different kinds of lights to choose from starting from the ordinary string lamps to more elaborate ones like disco lights, strobe lights and colored wheels.

If you are looking at having the perfect party, there is no point in going to all the trouble of getting a really good spread, and then falling flat on the “mood setting.” For a fraction of the cost of what you have spent on the food, you can get amazing colored lights that light up the inside or the outside of your home.

The use of string lights is probably the simplest and cheapest way to set the tone of the party, although in most cases this alone is not enough. Choosing the colors and shapes of the bulb covers is of course very important, and if done correctly, will go a long way to enhancing the overall effect. These lamps can be bought very cheaply with the paper ones starting at only around $5 for a set of 10.

Judicious use of the strobe light will increase the effect of the string lamps, especially if they are burning with contrasting colors. The timing of the flashes too need to be set right because if the duration of the pause is too short, you do not get anything out of the lamp, while at the same time if the pause is too long, it will leave everyone in darkness. If combined judiciously with the string lights, the strobe flashes will light up the room, while the string lights make sure that there is at least a minimum amount of light in the pauses between flashes. These lights can be purchased starting at around $25.

The best kind of party lights is of course either the disco lamps or the can light with the colored wheel. These lights make a big difference to your party because it is almost like bringing the disco home. They come in small units and can be floor mounted or hung from the ceiling. A single disco lamp or can light can transform the whole setting if placed in the right area. Considering that these lamps come at just around $25 or $30 for a piece, it is better to buy them outright than hire them because you will have gotten your money’s worth by your second party.

A good light setting for your party would be to get a few short lengths of different colored or multi colored string lamps and hang them around the hall. One strobe light mounted on the ceiling in the corner pointing towards the other corner, and a disco light hung from the middle would be sufficient to give you what you desire. Adding a couple more of these lights may be ok if you feel like it, but it is good to bear in mind that too much sometimes is worse than too little.
